Tip
JBL Denitrol or JBL FilterStart reduces the running in time by introducing beneficial cleansing bacteria: rinse the filter foam with aquarium water and squeeze out well. Using the inside screw top as a measure, pour four capfuls of Denitrol onto the sponge and allow to soak in briefly. Run the filter in for three days in the aquarium of the parent fish. After this time the filter is biologically active and can be transferred to the aquarium containing young fish.

Available again at last - an extendable air-driven internal filter!
JBL has responded to the gap in the market by offering aquarium-keepers the JBL TekAir, an efficient air-driven internal filter for aquariums up to 80 litres, which can now also be extended for larger tanks. Many fish breeders and “old hands” swear by air-driven internal filters, whose capacity matches the available filter volume. However, this is precisely the problem with many motor-driven internal filters. The high pump capacity is not in harmony with the much too small filter volume. JBL TekAir is, in the good old sense, a traditional air-driven internal filter with filter cartridges which can simply be plugged one into the other as required. The heavy base, which dispenses with the need for a suction pad and can be simply placed in the aquarium, incorporates an airstone, effectively reducing “blubbing” noises whilst at the same time increasing capacity. The sponge, which is scored to increase the surface area, is made of a saltwater-resistant material with pore sizes which enable bacteria to colonise within a very short period of time. To assist aquarium-keepers in activating filter material of any kind, JBL Filterstart includes 15,000,000 pollutant-converting bacteria.
