The use of a pre-filter is advisable for extended service life of the filter. It ensures that the bulk of coarse dirt is retained before the actual filter container.
It is mounted with its adjustable telescopic pipe instead of the priming pipe, thus leading the water to the filter via the strainer. This strainer with its large priming area is filled with filter material which is easy to clean and replace. The base of the pre-filter is positioned on the floor of the aquarium. For cleaning the separate strainer just has to be taken out – most easily with the plant tongs.
